3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
steel wire reinforced thermoplastic coiled composite pipe
A thermoplastic coiled composite pipe reinforced by steel wire braiding, referred to as steel wire reinforced coiled pipe.
3.2
steel tape reinforced thermoplastic coiled composite pipe
A thermoplastic coiled composite pipe reinforced by an even number of layers of steel tape wound helically in left and right directions, referred to as steel tape reinforced coiled pipe.
3.3
liner
The polymer layer formed by extrusion that is in direct contact with the conveyed fluid.
3.4
sour service
Oil and gas field environments containing hydrogen sulfide that can cause sulfide stress cracking, stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen induced cracking, and other forms of cracking in metallic materials.
3.5
reinforced layer
The structural layer that enhances the pressure resistance of the coiled pipe through steel wire braiding or steel tape winding.
3.6
adhesive layer
The polymer layer that bonds the steel wire braided reinforcement layer to adjacent layers by fusion or adhesion, forming an integral pipe wall without relative movement.
3.7
outer sheath
The polymer layer of the pipe that resists corrosion, wear, and mechanical damage from the external environment.
3.8
isolating layer
The polymer layer that separates the reinforcement layer from the outer sheath to prevent abrasion, cutting, and similar effects.
3.9
nominal size; DN
The nominal size related to the inner diameter, also referred to as nominal bore.
3.10
nominal pressure rating
The pressure rating of the pipe set by the manufacturer under normal temperature conditions.
