Article 1.0.1 The rule is applicable to design of vent stack and steel flare stack tower pylons of 150m or below high in petrochemical enterprises.
Article 1.0.2 The codes is compiled in line with the principle of “United Standard fro Design of Building Structure”, GBJ 68-1984.
Article 1.0.3 At the same time to execute the codes, requirements in relevant current national standards still should be followed.
Chapter 2 Design Principle
Section 2.1 General provisions
Article 2.1.1 For the main body structure of a tower pylon, its security grade shall be designed as requirements for grade I, and aseismatic grade shall conform to requirements for Category B.
Article 2.1.2 The elevations of both a vent stack or a flare tip should be determined according to factors in production, safety and other aspects. The height of a tower pylon may be 10m or so lower than a steel vent stack or flare tip.
Article 2.1.3 It is unsuitable that the minimum thickness of a member and its connecting pieces are less than 5mm for a flare stack tower pylon, or 6mm for a vent stack tower pylon. In the case to adopt a steel pipe structure, the wall thickness may be allowed to reduce 1mm, respectively; if a small sectional combined member is adopted, a sufficient corrosion allowance should be reserved for the thickness of member, generally, not less than 0.5mm for a flare tower pylon, or 1,0mm for a vent stack tower pylon.
Article 2.1.4 The dimension of the platform at the top of a flare tower pylon should meet requirements for maintenance of the flare tip. It is unsuitable that the side length is less than 4m for a square platform, or 7m for a triangular one. The height of no handrail is allowed to be less than 1.2m.
