Plastics piping systems on ships - Polyethylene(PE) pipes and fittings
1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements of materials, classification of pipe fittings, specifications and dimensions, burst pressure and hydrostatic strength, physical and mechanical properties, system suitability, etc. of marine polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings, describes the corresponding test methods, and specifies the inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage requirements.
This document is applicable to marine ballast water where the working temperature is not higher than 60 ℃ and the maximum working pressure (MOP) is not higher than 1.6 MPa
Non-important pipeline systems in tanks, open decks, tanks, empty tanks, pipe tunnels and pilot holes, including ballast water pipe systems, domestic water pipe systems and gray and black water pipe systems.
The piping system specified in this document is not suitable for places with fire resistance, smoke suppression and electrical conductivity requirements.
Note: It is the responsibility of relevant parties to properly select the products specified in this document according to specific application requirements and the requirements of relevant laws, standards and specifications

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 19278 and GB/T 13663.1 and the following apply to this document.
3.1
flame spread
speed at which the flame travels along the surface when a marine plastic pipe is burned
Note: Using the method of ASTM D635 to determine, the materials on ships are generally low flame seeding.
4 Material
4.1 Polyethylene mixing ingredients
4.1.1 General requirements
The materials used to produce pipes and fittings should be PE100 or higher grade polyethylene mixture.
Polyethylene mixture shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 13663.1.
4.1.2 Color of polyethylene mixture
The color of the mixed ingredients should be black.
4.1.3 Performance of polyethylene mixture
The properties of polyethylene mixture shall comply with the requirements of Table 2 and Table 3
4.1.4 Welding compatibility of polyethylene mixture
The welding compatibility of polyethylene mixture shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 13663.1.
4.2 Recycled materials
Recycled materials and recycled materials should not be used in the production of pipes and fittings.
4.3 Mixed ingredients for labeling color bars
The polyethylene mixture used to manufacture pipe color strips should adopt the same base resin as the polyethylene mixture used to produce pipes, or have the same MRS value. The polyethylene mixture used to mark color strips should not have a negative impact on the performance of pipes.
The marking color strip shall meet the butt welding tensile strength test requirements in Table 2.
4.4 Metal parts
The metal parts of pipe fittings should not cause degradation or aging of plastic pipe materials during pipeline use, and all corrosive parts should be fully protected.
When different metal materials are used in pipe fittings and may come into contact with moisture, measures should be taken to prevent electrochemical corrosion.
4.5 Other materials
If grease or lubricant is used, it should not penetrate into the welding area and should not negatively affect the material properties of pipes/fittings.
5 Pipe fittings classification
5.1 The pipe fitting types include the following 3 types:
——Welded connection pipe fittings;
——Mechanical connection pipe fittings (dn≤ 63 mm);
——Flange connection pipe fittings.
5.2 Fusion connection pipe fittings are divided into electrofusion pipe fittings, hot-melt bucking pipe fittings and hot-melt socket pipe fittings.
