1 Scope
This standard specifies the scope of application, terms and definitions, symbols and units, rainstorm intensity formula and design rainstorm distribution of the standard of rainstorm intensity formula and design rainstorm distribution of Shanghai.
This standard is applicable to the planning, design and assessment of outdoor drainage systems within the administrative region of Shanghai.
2 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

cumulative depth of rainwater that falls on a horizontal surface within a certain period of time
2.4
rainfall intensity
rainfall amount per unit time (per minute or per hour) within a certain period of time
2.5
short duration precipitation
rainfall with the rainfall duration less than 180 min
2.6
effective rainstorm sample
sample of rainfall data compiled with the rainstorm intensity formula and design rainstorm distribution
