1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This Standard specifies classification and coding method for motor vehicle travelling on urban and rural roads and codes for motor vehicle.
This Standard is applicable to management, dispatching, plan statistics as well as research for motor vehicle by vehicle usage department and traffic management department.
2 Terms
Motor vehicle
It refers to vehicles driven by power unit and travelling on urban and rural roads.
3 Classification Principle
Classification shall be made for motor vehicles on roads according to purpose and structural feature with 6 main classes, 21 divisions and 56 subdivisions.
4 Coding Method
Three-digit number structure shall be adopted for motor vehicle codes and the structure is as follow:
