3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 4943.1, GB/T 41411, and the following apply.
3.1
children's watches
Watches intended for use by children aged 3 years and above, and under 14 years old.
[SOURCE: GB/T 414112022, 3.1, modified]
3.2
children's smart watches
Children's watches (3.1) with information processing functions.
Note: Information processing functions generally include calls, positioning, remote monitoring, etc.
4 Safety Requirements and Test Methods
4.1 Basic Requirements for Children's Smart Watches
The basic safety requirements for children's smart watches shall comply with the provisions of GB 4943.1, where fire enclosures shall meet the requirements of 4.3, and the contact temperature of accessible parts shall meet the requirements of 4.17. Discarded children's smart watches for recycling shall be handled by enterprises qualified for waste electrical and electronic product treatment.
4.2 Appearance Safety
The prominent parts of a children's watch shall have no sharp edges and sharp points. Components, parts, and assemblies shall not detach automatically upon impact by external force.
The test for sharp edges and sharp points shall be conducted according to GB 6675.2. The external force test method for components, parts, and assemblies shall be conducted according to 5.3 of GB/T 38022-2019. The test results shall be inspected visually after the test.
4.3 Flammability
Materials used for fire enclosures of children's smart watches shall be of V-0 grade as specified in GB/T 5169.16-2017. The test method shall be according to GB/T 5169.16-2017, with a specimen thickness of 1.5 mm.
4.4 Water Resistance
Children's watches with claimed water resistance shall meet the following requirements:
Marked with the corresponding IP code for the water resistance protection level as specified in GB/T 4208;
Comply with the corresponding requirements of GB/T 30106.
Testing shall be conducted according to GB/T 4208 using the IP code claimed by the manufacturer; or testing shall be conducted according to GB/T 30106.
4.5 Chemical Properties
4.5.1 Nickel Release
The nickel release limit for metal and metal-ceramic (including coatings) appearance parts of children's watches shall be less than 0.5 μg/(cm²·week).
Samples with coatings shall be tested according to the method in EN 12472; other samples shall be tested according to the method in EN 1811.
