3 Terms, Definitions, Symbols, and Abbreviations
3.1 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 29166 and the following apply.
3.1.1
dual-wall drill pipe
Drill pipe composed of two concentric inner and outer tubular components, providing relatively independent inner and outer drilling fluid flow paths.
Note: Also known as dual-layer drill pipe.
3.1.2
outer pipe
The outer tubular component that transmits working loads such as tension, compression, and torsion.
3.1.3
inner pipe
The concentric tubular component fixed inside the outer pipe.
3.1.4
top joint of inner pipe
The inner pipe connecting joint assembled at the internally threaded connection of the outer pipe, providing a fluid flow path.
3.1.5
bottom joint of inner pipe
The inner pipe connecting joint assembled at the externally threaded connection of the outer pipe, providing a fluid flow path.
3.1.6
torsion-strength ratio
The ratio of the torsional strength of the outer pipe connection joint to the torsional strength of the pipe body.
3.1.7
fluid channel equivalent diameter
The equivalent diameter when the flow area of the fluid channel is converted to a circular area.
3.1.8
lot
A specified quantity of products manufactured under conditions considered uniform for inspection attributes.
3.1.9
drill pipe elements
The individual components that constitute the drill pipe.
