1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements for the ordering, raw materials and manufacturing process, material requirements, dimensions, mass per unit length, imperfections and end finishing, inspection and testing, non-destructive testing, retesting, marking, coating and protection, and documentation for carbon steel and low-alloy steel coiled tubing used in oil and gas wells (hereinafter referred to as "coiled tubing").
This document applies to the manufacture and inspection of coiled tubing.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
as milled condition
The condition of coiled tubing that has completed all manufacturing processes but has not been spooled onto a reel.
3.2
coiled tubing (CT)
Finished steel pipe product manufactured by a continuous process, with a single length not less than 61 m, coiled on a reel, and delivered for use.
3.3
flash
Small amounts of metal extruded from the edges of the inner and outer weld beads during the high-frequency induction welding process, forming small fin-like or mesh-like metal protrusions that rise above the inner or outer surface of the pipe.
3.4
gouge
An elongated groove or cavity formed by the removal of metal using a mechanical device.
3.5
master coil
The original steel coil provided by the raw material manufacturer used to manufacture coiled tubing.
Note: It may be longitudinally slit to the required width for use in coiled tubing manufacturing.
