Specification for Acidizing Design, Construction, and Evaluation of Oil and Water Wells
1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements for the process design, construction, evaluation, and health, safety, and environmental control of matrix acidizing in oil and water wells.
This document is applicable to the design, construction, and evaluation of acidizing operations in onshore oil and water wells. Offshore oilfields may selectively refer to it.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
pad fluid
A treatment fluid system used during acidizing for pretreating the reservoir, aiming to avoid secondary precipitation or remove organic blockages, etc. If acid is added to the pad fluid, it is called pad acid.
3.2
main treating acid
The acid used during acidizing to dissolve reservoir rock and plugging materials.
3.3
postpositional fluid
A treatment fluid system injected after the main treating acid during acidizing to ensure or enhance the acidizing effect. If acid is added to the postpositional fluid to maintain acidic conditions in the treated interval and avoid secondary precipitation, it is called postpositional acid.
3.4
peak shear viscosity
The highest viscosity value measured using a rotational viscometer after the diverting acid fluid has thickened.
