3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
floating production unit
A floating facility located offshore, providing specific functions and equipped with production capabilities.
3.2
floating production, storage and offloading unit
A floating production unit with functions for oil, gas, and water processing, crude oil storage, and offloading.
3.3
single point mooring system
A device used to position offshore floating production units, also providing functions for fluid, power, and communication transmission.
Note: The single point mooring system allows the moored floating production unit to weathervane 360° freely around it in response to wind, waves, and currents, positioning the moored floating production unit in the orientation where environmental forces are minimized.
3.4
internal turret single point mooring system
A single point mooring system consisting of mooring legs and a turret structure.
Note: The mooring legs are connected respectively to the turret structure and the seabed anchor points.
3.5
soft yoke single point mooring system
A single point mooring system consisting of a mooring tower, swivel stack, soft yoke, mooring legs, and support structure.
Note: The mooring legs are connected to the support structure located at the bow of the FPSO and, together with the FPSO, freely rotate around the mooring tower via bearings on the turntable structure.
3.6
catenary anchor leg mooring system
A single point mooring system consisting of a buoy, mooring legs, and anchors.
3.7
main bearing
A mechanical device that bears the load from the mooring legs and allows the moored floating unit to weathervane around the mooring structure.
3.8
fiber rope
Mooring ropes made from synthetic fibers.
3.9
polyester fiber rope
Mooring ropes made from polyester fibers.
3.10
swivel stack
An assembly of a series of production swivels, electrical swivels, utility swivels, and fiber optic swivels.
Note: The main structure of the swivel stack can rotate freely around a fixed or anchored structure, enabling continuous transmission of fluids, power, and communication signals between the FPSO and fixed platforms or subsea production systems.
