General safety requirements for household and similar service robots
1 Scope
This clause of GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the followings.
This standard deals with the safety of household and similar service robots with rated voltage not exceeding 250V for indoor use.
Note 101: For audio/video or other functions, relevant requirements of other standards may apply.
Note 102: For additional requirements of household and similar service robots for outdoor use, see Annex AA.
Additional requirements are given in Annexes BB and CC for Type 3 household mobile robot and its docking station.
For household and similar service robots, this standard provides regulations on common safety problems caused by the application of robot technology. Safety problems caused by the design function of the appliance itself shall be specified in the special requirements of GB 4706 series standards. This means that many household and similar service robot products need to meet all the requirements of GB 4706.1, this standard and the corresponding special requirements of GB 4706.
This standard is not applicable to the following appliances:
—— chargers (GB 4706.18);
—— battery-powered automatic electric mowers with special requirements (IEC 60335-2-107);
—— medical devices (GB 9706.1);
—— automatic floor treatment machines for commercial use (IEC 63327);
—— electric hand-held tools, movable tools and turf and gardening machinery (GB/T 3883, IEC 61029);
—— appliances intended to be used in corrosive or explosive environment (dust, vapour or gas);
—— road vehicles with a speed of more than 25 km/h.
