1 Scope
This document specifies the marking, dimensions and parameters of small cylindrical helical extension springs.
This document applies to cold-formed cylindrical helical extension springs (center-loop type) with round cross-section wire diameters ranging from 0.16 mm to 0.48 mm for general purposes. Other hook-type extension springs may refer to this standard.
2 Normative References

5 Spring Working Drawings and Hook Angle Types
5.1 Cold-formed cylindrical helical extension springs (hereinafter referred to as "springs") shall be drawn according to GB/T 4459.4.
5.2 Hook angle types are classified as Type A (see Figure 1) and Type B (see Figure 2).

Figure 2 Type B
6 Materials
Spring material wire diameter shall be 0.16 mm to 0.48 mm, using GB/T 4357 DM grade wires or GB/T 24588 Group B wires. When using GB/T 24588 Group B wires, the designation shall be marked with code "S". Other grades/groups and specifications may be used upon agreement between supplier and purchaser with corresponding marking.
7 Manufacturing Tolerances
Spring rate, outside diameter, free length and hook opening dimensions shall be manufactured to Grade 3 precision per GB/T 1973.1—2021. Other precision grades require mutual agreement and explicit marking.
8 Direction of Coiling
Springs shall be right-hand coiled unless otherwise specified. Left-hand coiled springs shall be marked with "LH".
