Introduction
Feed additives refer to substances added in small or trace amounts during the processing, manufacturing, and use of feed, including nutritional feed additives and general feed additives. For ease of use, and according to product type, GB 7300 "Feed Additives" is divided into the following 13 major categories:
— Amino acids, amino acid salts and analogues;
— Vitamins and vitamin-like substances;
— Mineral elements and their complexes (chelates);
— Enzyme preparations;
— Microorganisms;
— Non-protein nitrogen;
— Antioxidants;
— Preservatives, mold inhibitors and acidity regulators;
— Coloring agents;
— Flavoring and appetite-stimulating substances;
— Binders, anti-caking agents, stabilizers and emulsifiers;
— Polysaccharides and oligosaccharides;
— Others.
The product Enterococcus faecalis covered by this document belongs to the fifth major category: Microorganisms. As Enterococcus faecalis is the seventh product standard published under this major category, this document is assigned the number GB 7300.507 and serves as Part 507 of GB 7300.
Feed Additives — Part 5: Microorganisms — Enterococcus faecalis
1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements, sampling, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation, storage and shelf life of the feed additive Enterococcus faecalis. It also describes the corresponding test methods.
This document applies to solid feed additive products obtained using Enterococcus faecalis as the strain, through processes such as liquid fermentation, separation, with or without the addition of a carrier, and drying.

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Enterococcus faecalis
Belongs to the domain Bacteria, phylum Firmicutes, class Bacilli, order Lactobacillales, family Enterococcaceae, genus Enterococcus. It is a Gram-positive coccus, cells are ovoid, mainly in pairs or short chains, non-spore-forming, mostly non-motile, facultatively anaerobic, chemoheterotrophic, fermenting glucose to produce L(+)-lactic acid without gas production.
4 Raw Materials and Strain
