Introduction
Feed additives refer to substances added in small or trace amounts during the processing, manufacturing, and use of feed, including nutritional feed additives and general feed additives. For ease of use, and according to product category, GB 7300 "Feed Additives" is planned to be divided into the following 13 major categories:
— Amino acids, amino acid salts and analogues;
— Vitamins and vitamin-like substances;
— Mineral elements and their complexes (chelates);
— Enzyme preparations;
— Microorganisms;
— Non-protein nitrogen;
— Antioxidants;
— Preservatives, mold inhibitors and acidity regulators;
— Coloring agents;
— Flavoring and appetite-stimulating substances;
— Binders, anti-caking agents, stabilizers and emulsifiers;
— Polysaccharides and oligosaccharides;
— Others.
The product selenium yeast covered by this document belongs to the third major category: Mineral elements and their complexes (chelates). As selenium yeast is the tenth product standard published under this major category, this document is assigned the number GB 7300.310 and serves as Part 310 of GB 7300.
Feed Additives — Part 3: Mineral Elements and Their Complexes (Chelates) — Selenium Yeast
1 Scope
This document defines the terms and definitions for the feed additive selenium yeast, and specifies its technical requirements, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation, storage and shelf life. It also describes the sampling and test methods.
This document applies to the feed additive selenium yeast produced using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as the strain.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Selenium yeast
A product produced by fermenting and culturing Saccharomyces cerevisiae in a medium containing inorganic selenium, converting the inorganic selenium into organic selenium, followed by processes such as separation, washing, and drying.
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 Appearance and Properties
Pale yellow to yellowish-brown powder or uniform granules, free from foreign matter and mold, with its characteristic odor.
4.2 Physicochemical Indicators
Shall comply with the requirements specified in Table 1.
4.3 Hygiene Indicators
Shall comply with the requirements specified in Table 2.
5 Sampling
Sampling for microbiological testing purposes shall be carried out according to GB/T 42959. Sampling for other testing purposes shall be carried out according to GB/T 14699.
6 Test Methods
6.1 Appearance and Properties
Place an appropriate amount of sample in a clean container against a white background.
Observe its form and color, and smell its odor under natural light.
6.2 Organic Selenium Content (as Se)
Carry out according to the provisions of GB 1903.21.
6.3 Proportion of Organic Selenium to Total Selenium (by mass)
Carry out according to the provisions of GB 1903.21.
6.4 Proportion of Selenium from Selenomethionine (as Se) to Total Selenium (by mass)
Determine selenomethionine according to the provisions of Annex A. Determine total selenium according to the provisions of GB/T 13883. The proportion of selenium from selenomethionine (as Se) to total selenium (by mass), denoted as w₁, expressed as a percentage (%), is calculated according to Formula (1):
6.5 Moisture
Carry out according to the provisions of GB/T 6435.
6.6 Crude Protein
Carry out according to the provisions of GB/T 6432.
6.7 Crude Ash
Carry out according to the provisions of GB/T 6438.
6.8 Total Arsenic
Carry out according to the provisions of GB/T 13079.
6.9 Lead
Carry out according to the provisions of GB/T 13080.
6.10 Cadmium
Carry out according to the provisions of GB/T 13082.
6.11 Salmonella
Carry out according to the provisions of GB/T 13091.
7 Inspection Rules
7.1 Lot Formation
Products of the same specification, produced from the same materials, using the same production process, in continuous production or during the same shift, constitute a batch. The quantity per batch shall not exceed 20 t.
