3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
pure live seed value (PLS)The percentage of seeds that possess seeding value.
4 Technical Requirements
The quality classification of leguminous forage seeds shall comply with the requirements specified in Table 1.
5 Sampling
Sampling shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2930.1.
6 Inspection Methods
6.1 Purity
Purity inspection shall be performed in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2930.2.
6.2 Germination Rate
Germination rate test shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2930.4.
6.3 Other Plant Seed Count
The determination of other plant seed count shall follow the provisions of GB/T 2930.3.
6.4 Moisture Content
Moisture content determination shall be executed in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2930.8.
6.5 Pure Live Seed Value (PLS)
Determine the purity and germination rate separately in accordance with 6.1 and 6.2, then calculate the pure live seed value using Formula (1).
7 Inspection Rules
7.1 Factory Inspection
The factory inspection items shall include purity, germination rate, other plant seed count and moisture content.
7.2 Judgment Rules
7.2.1 Basic Requirements
Forage seeds containing quarantine objects specified by the state shall not be subject to quality grading.
7.2.2 Single Index Grading
Grade the four indicators of purity, germination rate, other plant seed count and moisture content separately according to Table 1. Purity, germination rate and other plant seed count are classified into Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3. Seeds below Grade 3 shall be classified as off-grade. Only a moisture content threshold is specified; seeds with moisture content exceeding the threshold shall be deemed off-grade.
7.2.3 Comprehensive Quality Grading
7.2.3.1 If the four indicators of purity, germination rate, other plant seed count and moisture content all fall into the same quality grade, the seed batch shall be graded as such.7.2.3.2 If any one of the four indicators is below Grade 3, the seed batch shall be classified as off-grade.7.2.3.3 If all four indicators are at or above Grade 3, the quality grade shall be determined according to the following conditions:a) If purity and germination rate are in the same quality grade, the seed batch shall be graded based on the lowest grade among the four indicators.b) If purity and germination rate fall into different quality grades, replace these two indicators with the pure live seed value (PLS) indicator, then grade the seed batch according to the lowest grade among PLS, other plant seed count and moisture content.
8 Packaging and Marking
Packaging and marking shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of NY/T 1577.
9 Storage
Storage shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 24866.
